What is the UPG?

The UPG is the world’s first & only
publicly-funded purpose-built & tourable
structure for the practice & performance of
Parkour-inspired physical theatre & dance.

In 2005 The Brighton & Hove Arts Commission selected the UPG as one of 5 winning entries to their “Making a Difference” funding competition. Following 18 months of work Prodigal Theatre presented a week long series of performances & workshops around Brighton & Hove & involving dozens of artists and participants. Performances were watched by thousands of spectators including Gravity Style who included the project in their feature documentary “Gravity Style – Come Fly With Us”.

In July 2009 the UPG Team with Crawley Borough Council proudly opened the UK’s first permanent, free, outdoor Parkour Training Area (PKTA) as part of the Bewbush regeneration scheme.

Situated opposite Stevenage Rd on Breezehurst Drive, Crawley, the PKTA is waiting for you – and floodlit ‘til 10pm. It features amongst other obstacles a concrete and steel recreation of one of the UPG sets. We may well see you there…
